Pack your soil sample in a sealed polythene bag inside a rigid container to preserve moisture. Label clearly with project name, site location, sample ID, and test type required.

We Test It

On receipt, our team logs your sample and begins preparation as per IS 2720 Part 8 — air-drying, pulverising, sieving, and preparing five or more specimens.

Test Process

Our Proctor Compaction Test Process — as per IS 2720 Part 8

Sample Preparation

  1. First, we receive and log your sample — assigning a sample ID and verifying quantity and labelling.
  2. Next, we air-dry the soil and pulverise clods to pass the required IS sieve size.
  3. We then prepare five or more specimens at incrementally increasing moisture contents.
  4. Consequently, each specimen undergoes compaction in the IS 2720 Part 8 mould — three layers, 56 blows per layer, using the 4.89 kg rammer at 450 mm drop.

Plotting the Compaction Curve

  1. We record the mass of compacted soil in the mould for each specimen.
  2. Subsequently, we extract sub-samples from each compacted specimen and determine water content in the oven.
  3. We then calculate dry density for each moisture content point and plot the compaction curve.
  4. Finally, we identify Maximum Dry Density (MDD) and Optimum Moisture Content (OMC) from the peak of the curve.
